If we talk about the hair styles in the 20’s, then one word comes to our mind and that is the “Bob”. In this decade bob cut was the most famous cut. This decade saw the most controversial phase in the field of hair style and the main controversy revolved around the hair cut known as ¾ “the bob”.

The commencement of this hair cut as a hair style was in the year 1915 when Castle Bob made debut. It was named after the famous ballroom dancer, Irene Castle. No one ever thought that cutting her hair in this manner would become such a revolution in the 20’s.

Bob hair style is actually like a blunt cut which hangs to the end of the ears. This hair style was worn with the hair brushed off of the forehead or with bangs. The carefree youth welcomed this new hair style and took this hair style to the number one hair styles adopted amongst the women in that decade. With new coloring, peering and curling this bob cut got more faces to it. It appeared that women with short hair are bolder and strong. This hair style even brought many changes in the society in terms of the approach towards the women.

There was even a post published from F. Scott Fitzgerald named “Bernice Bobs Her Hair.” The tale was not very famous but it depicted that a sweet little lady who gets this hair cut is transformed into a hard and strong, ready to take on the world, women.

In 1921 the actresses like Louise Brooks and fashion designer like Coco got their hair bobbed. The trend was taking place with a great pace. Every other lady got hung to this new hair style. Though there were many women who were little dicey on this; the decision to go for a bob or stick to the long hair got difficult with the thought that long hair will be back soon and then it will be hard to grow the hair long again, but nothing could stop the ever growing craze of the bob styled hair.

The sadness do prevailed as a result of cutting their long hair short but the bob cut was bringing happiness because of its trendy and smart look. The craze of getting this bob cut done was taking over the world and as evidence to this; the New York City alone saw around 2,000 women everyday getting the bob job done! There were long lines in the outside the barbers shop with many of them sitting on the floor inside, waiting for their turn to get the then very famous hair cut.

The barbers had no other option but to bob the hair of their clients as they only demanded this. The barbers got a hang of this hair cut leading to the emergence of various sub styles in the bob cut. They introduced variations with changing the color, curl, peering the hair and giving the hair a new look.
